Harp Music for Funerals and Memorial Services

Music can say what words cannot.

The harp brings a quiet, reflective presence to a funeral service. It supports the moment without overwhelming it.

Whether in a church, crematorium or private memorial, I provide thoughtful, professional music that honours your loved one with dignity.

Why the Harp is especially suited to a Funeral

  • Soft, expressive sound that carries without dominating
  • Familiar melodies arranged with sensitivity
  • Comforting atmosphere as guests gather
  • Seamless support for key moments in the service

The harp creates space for reflection and allows people to  feel held.

When the harp can be played

  • As guests arrive. Quiet, welcoming music while family and friends take their seats.

  • Entrance music
A chosen piece as the coffin or family enters.

  • During a reading or reflection
Gentle music beneath a candle lighting, slideshow or period of reflection.

  • Committal music
A carefully chosen piece at a moment of farewell.

  • Exit music
Uplifting or peaceful music as guests leave.

Each service is different. I work closely with families and funeral directors to ensure the music fits the tone and flow of the ceremony.

FUNERAL OR MEMORIAL SERVICE

  • Pre-service music. Up to 30 minutes of live harp music as your guests arrive.
  • Music for the entrance. A chosen piece to mark the beginning of the ceremony.
  • Music during a reading, reflection, candle lighting or slideshow.
  • Exiting music. Peaceful or uplifting piece as guests leave
  • Electro-acoustic amplification. Discreet amplification where needed to ensure the harp carries beautifully in larger or more open spaces.

Choosing Your Music

Some families know exactly what they would like while others prefer guidance.

Common choices include:

• Classical works such as Bach, Debussy or Handel
• Traditional hymns arranged for harp
• Film themes or meaningful contemporary songs
• A favourite piece that held significance

If a specific arrangement is required, this can usually be accommodated with 2 month's notice.

What's included...

• Arrival in good time to set up discreetly

• Music before, during and after the service as agreed

• Liaison with funeral directors or officiant

• Professional presentation and quiet, respectful conduct

• Electro-acoustic amplification where appropriate for larger venues

Everything is handled calmly and sensitively so you do not need to worry about practicalities on the day.

The harp requires a small footprint and can be positioned at the front of the church, beside the altar or discreetly to one side. I arrive early to set up and coordinate with the venue so you do not need to think about it on the day.

Everything is handled professionally and quietly.
